The ARC does so much more then making sure the Blood supply is adequate and safe to meet demands. Everyday the ARC responds to local community disasters. House fires, floods, and other disasters where people lose their Homes and their precious memories. The ARC carries out it's mission souly with the donations of the caring and giving People of the United States. 2008 was a tough year for people in the United States, and the American Red Cross. Fires out of control in California. Ice storms and floods in the Mid-West. Major hurricanes- Gustav in Louisiana, and Ike in Texas, affecting the lives of thousands of people. The American Red Cross Disaster Relief efforts are made possible thru the donations of money by the people of the United States. These are tough economic times for everyone! Donations of money are down and the ARC is working in the red.
